14 Self Care Ideas

Here are some easy self care ideas that do not take much effort but can help your overall mental well-being. Enjoy:)

1. Yoga

Yoga is a great form of self care as it can help calm your mental well-being. Practicing Yoga regularly can create mental clarity and calmness as it can lower stress hormones in our bodies. Yoga is known to relieve depression, reduce stress, ease anxiety, improve sleep, enhance social life, and promote other healthy habits. In other words, an amazing form of self care!

2. Meditation

Meditation is a practice used to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable mind. During meditation, you can focus your attention and get rid of your jumbled thoughts crowding your mind and causing stress. The result of this can be enhanced physical and emotional well-being by strengthening areas of your brain responsible for self-awareness, learning, attention, and memory. Plus, it can be very peaceful!

3. Journaling

There are thousands of amazing benefits to journaling that I could name. Writing down our thoughts can help us to process how we feel and why. This is a great way to track our progress and growth, as well as helping us achieve our goals and gain self confidence. As we sit down and watch our own thoughts be written out, we can find inspiration through our creative side as well as strengthen our memory and reduce stress and anxiety.

4. Nature Walk

There's nothing better than the smell of some fresh air on a nature walk and all the amazing benefits that come with it! Being outside can lower the risk of depression and create a faster psychological stress recovery. In nature we can restore and strengthen our mental capacities which will increase our focus and attention. Plus, it's always good to get outside for awhile every day:)

5. Plan Your Week

Having a weekly schedule can help relieve mental stress and anxiety. If it wasn't for my daily planner, I can promise you my life would be a mess. With a planned out week, you can easily keep track of places where you need to be, when you need to be there, and when you can have your own down time. Then, you can have a very productive week and maybe find time to slip in more Self Care Time.

6. Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants for healing. Aromatherapy is used for easing stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as boosting feelings of relaxation and improving sleep. Incorporating essential oils into your nightly routine can help you unwind and relax easily before you go to bed.

7. Social Media Detox

Holding off from clicking on Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and all of those social media sites can help create a positive mood, higher productivity throughout the day, improve sleep, and reduce anxiety. Also, what benefit do you really receive from just watching other people live there lives, when we should be focused on living our own?

8. Reading

Through reading novels, we can unleash our creative side and draw pictures in our mind, giving us a healthy escape from the real world. Reading has many benefits including: it can reduce stress, it can make us more understanding, and it can calm us down. You might just find out how much you enjoy to read.

9. Skin Care Routine

A skin care routine helps provide stability in your day that can benefit your mental health. By taking some time in your day to focus on doing something nice for yourself/your skin, you can help yourself destress and not worry about anything else for that time being. Also, taking the time to benefit your skin can help boost your mood as well when you start to notice a difference in your skin!
